Fiona Apple è una musicista jazz (pianoforte e voce). Nata il 13 settembre 1977 a Upper West Side. Lo stile è di solito associato a rock alternativo, pop-jazz e art pop. Fiona Apple, all'anagrafe Fiona Apple McAfee-Maggart (New York, 13 settembre 1977), è una cantautrice statunitense. Iniziò a studiare musica e a comporre le proprie canzoni molto presto. Nel 1994 firmò con l'etichetta Sony a soli diciassette anni il suo primo contratto discografico, grazie al quale pubblicò nel 1996 il suo album di debutto Tidal, che vendette oltre tre milioni di copie negli Stati Uniti e le permise di vincere un Grammy Award alla miglior interpretazione vocale rock femminile con il brano Criminal. Nel 1999 venne messo in commercio il suo secondo album When the Pawn..., prodotto interamente da Jon Brion. L'album vendette oltre un milione di copie negli Stati Uniti ottenendo il disco d'oro e permise all'artista di ricevere ulteriori candidature ai Grammy Awards.
