Clark Terry war ein Jazzmusiker (Trompete, Flügelhorn und Singstimme). Clark Terry wurde am 14. Dezember 1920 in St. Louis geboren und starb am 21. Februar 2015 in Pine Bluff. Sein warmer Ton und seine Fähigkeit, nur mit dem Lippenansatz (also ohne Ventile) zahlreiche Artikulationsnuancen zu erreichen, beeinflussten Miles Davis und darüber zahlreiche weitere Trompeter. Seine Klangvorstellungen führten ihn zum Flügelhorn, das er meisterlich beherrschte und zu dessen Verwendung in der Jazzmusik er stark beitrug.
