Barney Kessel è stato un musicista jazz (chitarra). Nato il 17 ottobre 1923 a Muskogee, morto il 6 maggio 2004 a San Diego. Lo stile è di solito associato a jazz e jazz manouche. Etichette: Columbia Records, Concord Records, Mercury Records e RCA Victor. La discografia qui comprende 37 album, da «Barney Kessel» (1954) a «Live At The Jazz Mill 1954, Vol. 2» (2018). Tra i riconoscimenti: Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame (1999).

Barney Kessel (Muskogee, 17 ottobre 1923 – San Diego, 6 maggio 2004) è stato un chitarrista e compositore statunitense. Cominciò a suonare professionalmente da ragazzo con gruppi di musica da ballo per unirsi poi a formazioni più importanti, come quella diretta da Chico Marx. Rapidamente si posizionò come musicista chiave nella chitarra jazz post Charlie Christian. Nel 1944 partecipò al film del sassofonista Lester Young Jammin' the Blues e nel 1947 registrò con i Charlie Parker's New Stars le session di Relaxin' at Camarillo per la Dial Records. Barney Kessel è noto per il suo lavoro innovativo nel trio jazz, con la chitarra utilizzata sia in chiave armonica che solistica senza l'apporto del pianoforte. Negli anni '50 realizzò una serie di album intitolati The Poll Winners, con Ray Brown al contrabbasso e Shelly Manne alla batteria.
