Biografia

Gary Burton è un musicista jazz (vibrafono e marimba). Nato il 23 gennaio 1943 a Anderson. Lo stile è di solito associato a jazz e fusion. Etichette: Editions of Contemporary Music, Atlantic Records, RCA Records e GRP Records. La discografia qui comprende 42 album, da «New Vibe Man In Town» (1962) a «Quartet Live» (2009). Tra i riconoscimenti: NEA Jazz Masters e Grammy Awards.

Gary Burton (Anderson, 23 gennaio 1943) è un vibrafonista statunitense. Vibrafonista molto originale, Burton ha sviluppato uno stile quasi pianistico sullo strumento utilizzando la tecnica delle quattro bacchette in alternativa a quella, più usata e tradizionale, delle due bacchette. Grazie a questo nuovo approccio Burton è considerato un innovatore e il suo suono e la sua tecnica strumentale sono stati ampiamente imitati. È anche noto per essere stato uno dei pionieri della fusion e per avere reso popolare la formula del duo nel jazz ed è anche considerato una figura di prima grandezza nel campo dell'insegnamento musicale.
